La guerra del Fuego (Quest for Fire)

Sinopsis

Los Ulam han sido expulsados de sus cavernas. Conocían la existencia del fuego y su mantenimiento pero no sabían crearlo, por ello cuando un miembro del clan resbala y cae al agua apagando el fuego, la tribu ve amenazada su existencia, ya que dependen del fuego para calentarse y defenderse de los animales. Tres jóvenes guerreros son los encargados de partir en busca de la llama que pueda salvar a la tribu, llevándolos a sufrir múltiples peligros a través de un mundo hostil y de esta forma lograr, en el transcurso de su travesía, aprender lo suficiente como para permitir la supervivencia de su especie.

Hace 80.000 años la supervivencia del hombre en una tierra inexplorada y desconocida dependía de la posesión del fuego. Los Ulam, protagonistas de la epopeya, son hombres de Neanderthal, homínidos que convivieron con los humanos modernos (Homo sapiens). Hacia el final de la película se muestra una relación entre ambas especies.

Durante toda la película sus personajes se comunican por medio de gestos y con un lenguaje gutural creado para la ocasión por Anthony Burgess. Ganó el Oscar al mejor maquillaje y el Premios César a la mejor película.
